Top 5 Hikes in Flagstaff, AZ

5) Kachina Trail

Kachina Trail is especially gorgeous in the fall! The yellow and orange colors are breathtaking! It is an “out and back” trail that is about 11 miles & 2,000ft elevation gain. The turning point is relatively underwhelming but the journey there is great!

4) Weatherford Trail

Weatherford Trail is so beautiful, especially after a fresh snowfall! During the winter months, the road may be closed so make sure you look up recent reviews or call the Park to see if it’s open. This hike is pretty challenging with 13 miles and 3,200 ft elevation gain but the “winter wonderland” vibes are immaculate!

3) Sand Canyon Trail

This one is the perfect trail for families and kids! It’s about 3 miles and 400 ft elevation gain. It passes through some amazing rock formations and groves of pine trees. Also, the rock formations have some great caves for exploring. Definitely worth checking out!

2) Kendrick Peak

Kendrick Peak is one of my favorite hikes in the area! You hike up to a beautiful lookout point where you can see all of Flagstaff. Honestly, the hike up is pretty gnarly with a 3,500 ft elevation gain but it’s totally worth it! This one is a must!

1) Bismark Lake Trail

Bismark Lake is #1 on my list. This one is 20 miles but HEAR ME OUT. It only has a 1,500 ft elevation gain and isn’t strenuous. While the milage is tough, the beautiful lakes make the milage worthwhile! If you are capable, this hike should be a priority on your list because it’s stunning! (P.S. during the spring, you can swim in the lake made from snowmelt!)
